What is VPSA?
The Vice President of Student Affairs (VPSA) plays a crucial role in advocating for student interests and creating meaningful change on campus. Overseeing a team of about 14 students, the VPSA ensures that diverse perspectives, including those from the Student Affairs, Equity, and Wellness portfolios, are represented. They actively collect student feedback, translating key concerns into policy papers and actionable initiatives. Collaborating with other executives, the VPSA helps organize educational events, volunteer efforts, and awareness campaigns. Their work extends to serving on various committees, both staff- and student-led, such as the Clubs Committee and Indigenous Initiatives Committee. Through these efforts, the VPSA strengthens student engagement, supports cultural clubs, and enhances the overall student experience at Huron.
Why am I running?
My time at Huron has not been without bumps and setbacks. In my first year, I felt very overwhelmed and did not know how to access the support I needed despite having amazing Sophs and peers looking out for me. I especially struggled with entering a new and unfamiliar space without the direct support from my community back home. It took a while to start building a community around myself, and staying on track was hard. I know I am not alone in this experience, and I know others have and are struggling more.

I have been fortunate to build a support system through my peers, Wellness, Academic Advising, Student Engagement and my professors to be able to continue to have a positive experience at Huron despite setbacks. Now that I am going into my fourth year, I want to ensure that every student, no matter what they are going through, feels that resources are not just "available" but actually accessible to their diverse needs. Everyone at Huron deserves to thrive.
